So last week I enroled. Yes I was one of the annoying students who enroled late because I was on holiday during enrolement week... The process was pretty straight foward apart from the fact that there was no queue. It was every man for themselves. When there was a space it was all a quick rush to get the the empty chair before the person next to you. Other than that, and my awful student card photo, it was good.
Although having enroled late means my matienance loan hasn't come through yet, which is obviously not ideal and I've been skint this week as a result.
I started properly yesterday, with a belly full of nerves and looking a bit keen with my notepad and highlighters. We had an induction talk curtuosey of Jo, my quirky tutor and director of the course. She's almost on level with my college art foundation course director with regards to quirkiness, it seems to be a common trait. It isn't a bad thing- it's better than being boring. We were divided up into our tutorial groups in the afternoon and then into smaller groups in which we will launch our 'ambient advertising agency'. My group consists of me and four other girls; Natasha, Emily, Maddy and Lokkii. They're all enthusiastic and between us we came up with some interesting ideas. We eventually decided on 'Marionette' for the name; as in a puppet. We have the ethos of being dramatic, theatrical and on a more sinister level parallelling the idea of an advertiser being the hand that controls the puppet on the string (the audience). We also made links with shakespeare and religion and were getting all philispohical.....
So, I was thrown in at the deep end on the first day, which was a little scary but at the same time exciting. I've heard from friends that all they've done this week is sit through lectures. I've established an advertising agency. I think I've definatly got the better deal.
